Group tour - Sahara,
Anti-Atlas and the coast– every Easter
This tour is all about doing some adventurous travelling as a family and also
having fun time. It is also all about getting to see the real Morocco that
most tourists never see.
Starting in Marrakech the tour takes in the High Atlas, the Valle du Draa
“land of a thousand Kasbahs”, the Sahara, the Anti-Atlas and the
coast
|
|
|
|
|
|
On
the trip you will discover the geographic varieties of South Morocco from high
mountain Atlas peaks to the dunes of the Sahara. On route you will, visit traditional
Berber villages and the Kasbahs of the Valle du Draa, ride camels and camp in
the Sahara with nomad guides and ride donkeys in small little visited villages
in the Anti-Atlas. You may also encounter nomad families. Your trip includes
visits to important historical sites. |
|
|
|
|
Having
travelled with our own children we understand that the key to the success of
this kind of tour is “trade off” – after a hard day in the
4x4 its important the kids get some decent relax time in the pool.
Health and safety is a key consideration. Brahim, your escort, as well as
being a specialist in the region is very experienced in travelling with family
groups. This trip specifically involves some travel to areas outside of the
main tourist areas. Equatorial Travel specialises in Morocco solely in this
region. As specialists, our tours are designed to show you the very best of
this region with plenty of interaction with local people. We aim to show you
the real Morocco not the sanitised tourist version.

rather than all travelling in one large vehicle. This also allows you to explore
areas using off road ”pistes” getting you into the heart of the
landscape. Maximum number on the tour is 5 vehicles. |

FEEDBACK – FAMILY TOURS

Having
just back from our 10-day family tour in Morocco, I'd just like to say what
a fantastic time we all had - particularly our three kids Dylan (8), Adri (8)and
Sejal (6). Brahim was everything a tour leader should be - informative, friendly
and very concerned about our welfare and enjoyment.
Highlights for us were lying by the campfire in the desert looking up at the
stars, camel-riding, venturing into the mud-built Kasbahs of the Draa valley,
berber villages in the mountains, cooling off in our hotel pool in Zagora and
eating the freshest grilled sardines in our lives on the seafront as Essaouira.
We were even able to visit a village primary school in the anti-atlas and see
for ourselves how eager Moroccan children are to learn even in the most basic
surroundings. |

once in a lifetime experience for those who want more than to sit on a beach

We
feel absolutely great about the tour and are trying to persuade everyone with
kids that we know to think about it. Our favourite bits were the desert (of
course).... Both of us have dreamt of being in the desert for years and sometimes
I find it hard to believe we were really there. And the fantastic place we stayed
in the Anti-Atlas. We just loved the simplicity of it - the place we stayed
was just like Greece was 30 years ago. And the chance to exchange a (very) few
words with people as we strolled in the evening was something to be treasured.
All the hotels were fine and the guiding was superb.

Absolutely great –
not a moan from the kids even though some of the journeys were long. You were
absolutely right about giving the kids some real pool time – we needed
it as much as they did.
We loved the Sahara – it lived up all our expectations and the anti-atlas
was a real surprise……..some amazing rock formations. The kids of
course loved Essaouira and it was a great place to chill at the end.
No complaints abut anything and we will definitely be recommending Equatorial
ravel to all our friends.

I loved the trip down through
the high Atlas. The contrast between the green valley bottom and the arid mountains
was stunning. And of course the palmeries are wonderful places. I loved Tagmoute
- walking up the dry valley in the sunset and exchanging bonsoirs and salaama
lakems with waves of incredibly friendly people was highlight. Also a highlight
was visiting the nomads on our way from Tata to Tagmoute - we felt very privileged.
Brahim gave the kids and us a wonderful insight into the various cultures we
were passing through.
When it came to having to adapt the arrangements Brahim was great. Surprise
extras like visiting the nomads and the rock carvings near Tata made the trip
special. The kids rated the donkey ride as only second to the camel ride. The
camp in the desert was superb. Even though it was overcast so no stars, the
still of the desert night was fabulous. Just writing this fills me with some
of the excitement we felt about the trip. It was a fantastic experience, not
just a holiday, and that's in large part down to you and Brahim. So thanks.

The trip was in Joe’s words “Amazing”. The kids took everything
in & never complained once – there was so much to see on the drives
& discuss the differences of life. It was one hell of an experience &
has re bitten me with the travel bug. Sophie and family (UK)
Just to let you we know we had a fantastic time that exceeded any expectations.
Brahim dealt with everything fantastically and it was wonderful to meet him.
I can't speak highly enough of him. Out of all the experiences we had the trip
we took to meet the nomad family where Brahim got my son Euan and one of their
boys of the same age talking about the differences and similarities in their
lives was one that will stay with Euan and me for a long time. The trip for
us as a family was one of the most relaxing we have done. The children all got
on so well, swapping cars during the day and organising themselves that we hardly
saw them. All that travelling and hardly a moan from them.

Our trip was wonderful, full
of challenges, both physical and to our preconceptions. Brahim and his crew
were terrific...engaging, informative, encouraging of interaction with the local
population, all things that were important goals for us during the trip. We
all felt that the trip was well organised and sufficiently flexible to accommodate
the unexpected quite well. Thank you for all of your efforts. If you need any
references we would be happy to provide an exceedingly positive one.

We really enjoyed the trip;
it was so different from anything we had done before. Brahim and the drivers
were excellent, could not fault them. Everything was well organised, didn't
have to worry about a thing. Seeing the 'real' Morocco was brilliant The desert
experience was great - camels et al !
Having contact with people in the Berber village and visiting the schools was
superb. Brahim's brother cooked the best meal, in the desert, that we had on
the whole trip. The other families were great travelling companions as well.
Thanks again for a great trip cheers.

The trip was fantastic.
Brahim's passion for the area and its people really made us feel part of something
special. His knowledge and insights, and his relationships with so many local
people, helped us to see and understand so much more than we would otherwise
have done. We also realised how hard he must have been working behind the scenes
to make the trip run so smoothly, but it never showed. Always there, and everything
always under control. So many thanks to you and Brahim, and all the others who
made it such a great experience. Dave and family (UK)
We spent time in Morocco
with another company before going to the Sahara and Anti-Atlas with Equatorial
Travel.
The difference was ENORMOUS. Brahim was absolutely fabulous and obviously had
a strong connection and affinity with the local people. And we were definitely
not being taken to places where tour groups were going regularly. For the kids
this was an amazing experience. From meeting nomad children in the mountains
to playing football in the villages with the locals …………………………..well,
it wasn’t just amazing for the kids but for all of us. It is an experience
that will stay with s for many years.
